The Morningside Bike Ride is Back! What Local Gems Should We Visit This Season?
Hi neighbors! I want to take a moment to tell you about one of my favorite neighborhood events: our monthly Morningside bike ride.
If you haven’t joined us yet, we meet up on the first Saturday of every month at 10:00am at Three Mile Park (weather permitting, of course). We run these through the warmer months, from Spring to Fall.
It’s not a race—just a slow roll. We zig-zag through the neighborhood streets, waving to neighbors and spreading good vibes. We usually have a group of anywhere from 10 to 25 riders, and it’s honestly just a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
The ride is about more than just exercise; it’s about discovery. Every month, we pick a specific destination—usually an urban garden or a once-abandoned lot being repurposed into something meaningful for the community. When we arrive, we’re met by someone on-site who gives us a quick tour and spends about 15–20 minutes sharing the story of the project. We’re usually wrapped up by noon, feeling inspired by the work happening right in our own backyard.
Here is where I need your help. We’re always looking for new spots to visit. If you know of a hidden gem, a community garden, or a local project in Morningside or the surrounding areas that deserves a stop, please reach out and leave a comment. We’re trying to find the real hidden gems, connect some neighbors, and show everyone else what they’re missing in Morningside.
Our very first ride of the season is coming up on Saturday, May 2nd. Same place, same time: Three Mile Park at 10:00am.
Hope to see you there!
