Too Many Feral Cats in Morningside? TNR to the Rescue

At the last Morningside community meeting, we were introduced to Morningside TNR, a new organization whose primary focus is reducing cat over population in our area. TNR stands for trap, neuter, release, and that’s exactly what they do.

Whether you’re a cat lover or not, most people can get behind this cause. The statistics are staggering. One unfixed cat can produce 6+ cats, who then produce 36+ more cats, and so on. Because this growth is exponential, a single cat can lead to the production of thousands of cats in a matter of a few years. Yes, thousands. This means that fixing just one community cat can have a massive impact on the future feral cat population.

The process of TNRing feral cats involves setting a trap, bringing the trapped cat into All About Animals to be fixed, picking it up and allowing it to recover for two days, then releasing the cat in the same area it was trapped.

If you are interested in donating time or money to Morningside TNR, please reach out via email to morningsidetnr@gmail.com. You can also make a donation by Venmo to @Lauren-Latocki.
