We are excited to bring you another beautiful yard for our September “Curb Appeal” feature. What a gift it is to see the beauty of our neighborhood through the dedicated individuals that have a passion for their homes.
If you are driving along Alter you may notice a lovely explosion of oranges, yellows, and whites as you pass by Bronda Perkins home. Bronda is a lifelong Morningsider and has always enjoyed being in the neighborhood. She says any place you live may have its quirks or hardships, but that “people here are just warm”. She remembers when The Royal Skateland near her used to be a bowling alley and loves that that sense of joy and community still exists.
When asked about what inspires her to maintain her yard, she said that “it has always been my personality”. She said that taking care of your yard is just something you do and that she loves to do it. Her yard features many beautiful pots filled with bright colors – and even a beautiful birdbath with seahorses. She has a flurry of hydrangeas which frame her vibrant porch and an array of lights that illuminate and sparkle in the evening.
Though her yard is beautiful, she says it isn’t always easy to keep up. After some city construction last year, she had to work extra hard to get her grass back in good shape. The project didn’t phase her, and she is even more dedicated to maintaining a beautiful environment for all to enjoy. She also recently finished a project patching and painting her steps showcasing her continued dedication. All the work is something she is passionate about and enjoys sharing with others. Bronda says she loves sharing her yard most especially with her grandson who often explores the garden with her. Thank you, Bronda, for all your hard work – it continues to inspire us!
