Emerald Gardens Celebrates a Productive Summer
We have been busy at Emerald Gardens MorningSide. Since early spring, the garden has been exploding with life with over 500 native plants designed to attract pollinators and various insects beneficial to the ecosystem.

The Morningside community recently lost one of its most dedicated members in the passing of Mrs. Lorraine Black. Mrs. Black lived on Somerset since the 1970s.
Morningside’s Featherstone Garden Farm Tables Every Wednesday
You’ll find great vegetables every Wednesday from 12 to 5 p.m. at Featherstone Garden’s farm stand, 4178 Lakepointe Street, just a couple of blocks north of Mack Avenue.
Neighborhood Bike Ride: Saturday, September 18, 10am
Next Saturday, Morningside is having a community bike ride. The meet-up location will be at Three Mile-Munich Park, 10am sharp. Along the ride we’ll stop and highlight creative uses of empty lots. Come on out!

Brilliant Detroit Grand Opening Wednesday August 18th
It’s been years in the making, but despite slowdowns and setbacks – bureaucratic red tape, COVID restrictions, and flooding – Brilliant Detroit is finally able to welcome the community into its beautifully renovated house at 5050 Balfour on Wednesday, August 18 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Cornwall Corridor Community Project – a New Vision for West MorningSide
A key feature of this project is a three-block long planting of corn and perennial native wildflowers on the berms of Cornwall Street between Somerset St. and Barham St. - a literal “Corn Wall on Cornwall”.

St. Clare of Montefalco has been present in the Morningside Community servicing children since 1926. The school and church have maintained a Gospel presence in the neighborhoods that surround it through all the different ups and downs which have occurred over the years.
MCO Board Gets a Little Bigger
The MorningSide board recently welcomed back Adrian L. Green as its Treasurer. Adrian is no stranger to civic engagement. He’s an officer of Greater Christ Baptist Church of Detroit, a past Grand Master of Michigan Prince Hall Masons, and belongs to Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the Michigan Democratic Party, and the Detroit NAACP.
