Late last year Detroit-artist Jake Dwyer was selected by the Morningside community to create a mural commissioned by the city of Detroit and its City Walls program. And now, as of June 1st, Morningside has a beautiful, new mural gracing the grounds of the Three Mile Park!

We will have a discussion on proposed Bylaws revisions and returning to in-person meetings. We'll also be hearing from elected officers and our NPO.

There are multiple opportunities to participate locally in Motor City Makeover this Saturday: Grassroots Garden, Emerald Gardens, Courville Pocket Park, and the Brilliant Detroit house.

We want to thank our Elections Committee — Committee Chair Monique Tate, Elena Fracassa, and Donyelle Pressley — for conducting Tuesday's election and necessary runoff. They performed the undertaking with integrity, proficiency, and due diligence.

4800 Bedford is a long-vacant property that has attracted a considerable amount of dumping over the years. At the corner of Bedford and Cornwall, it's a conspicuous spot that neighbors have wanted to see cleaned up.

Our community organization utilizes the months of April and May to facilitate our organization's 2-part election process. The second part occurs on Tuesday, May 11th at 6:30pm, where the Election Committee will take final nominations and then conduct the election via a digital ballot.

Our first volunteer clean-up will be held Saturday, April 24 at 10:00am. The location is 4800 Bedford, the corner of Bedford and Cornwall. We plan to wrap up by noon.

For the past few months, the Bylaws Committee has been working diligently on our governing document. At an upcoming meeting, the Committee will communicate the reasoning for the proposed changes and prepare to answer questions from the community.
