The Brilliant Detroit Morningside Hub recently concluded six exciting weeks of our Sci-Fi Mystery Summer Camp, where imagination and learning came together in creative and engaging ways. Programming included 3D Makers Space, Improv, Robotics, Conversations in Science, Detroit Exploration, and 180 minutes of Math and Literacy tutoring daily, giving campers plenty of opportunities to grow, discover, and shine.

After weeks of fun and discovery, we celebrated our campers’ accomplishments and welcomed the school year ahead with our Back 2 School Bash on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The event drew more than 60 children, parents, and neighbors, making it a joyful gathering of community support and encouragement. Smiles, laughter, and community pride filled the air as families came together to cheer on our kids for a successful school year.

This summer, 12 campers participated in our Sci-Fi Mystery Camp, exploring new ideas, building friendships, and developing their problem-solving skills. In addition, we were fortunate to have three Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) participants, who contributed their time and energy as part of the city’s youth employment program. We are proud of all our young people for their hard work and creativity this summer, and we look forward to seeing them carry that same spirit into a successful school year.

Since May, our biweekly Family Garden Club has been thriving, with tomatoes, basil, eggplant, pickling cucumbers, broccoli, kale, and parsley all flourishing to nourish our bodies. The garden has offered wonderful opportunities for children and families alike to learn, grow, practice patience, and build new skills together.

Looking ahead, our September Programming is packed with engaging after-school activities to kick off an amazing school year. Families can look forward to:

  • Read, Write, Roar

  • 3D Printing

  • Digital Sherpa 2

  • Art Therapy

  • …and more!

We’ll also host a Community Dinner on September 26th, 2025 at 4pm, bringing neighbors together to share food, fellowship, and encouragement as we head into fall. Below is the Morningside Hub’s Programming Newsletter for September: Live Link: https://bit.ly/4lSGiV2
