The Morningside Hub was buzzing with energy, from smooth martial arts moves to meaningful moments of gratitude, connection, and creativity.
Martials Arts:
Every week on Thursdays our kiddos have been learning from Master Cooper all about self-discipline, healthy habits, and how to do the BEST in all that they do. We’re proud to share that all of our participants have already earned their white belt, the first of what we hope will be many accomplishments as they continue building skill and confidence each week.
Gratitude Gathering:
November 24 Our Gratitude Gathering was a major hit! For the month of November we introduced a Friendsgiving-style twist on our usual community dinner, offering a fresh take on one of our staple events. We enjoyed fellowship with more than 40 community members, sharing delicious food, laughs, and music together. The Morningside Hub Advisory Team truly stepped up, contributing dishes, assisting with clean-up, and serving food to our kiddos. It was a heartfelt reminder of what community looks like when everyone shows up for one another. Guests left with full stomachs and even fuller hearts.
Next Chapter Book Club:
Our Next Chapter Book Club for adults has absolutely loved diving into Life is Short but Wide by Cooper J. California. The novel touches on themes that resonate with our Hub, including love, hope, family, hardship, and multi-generational resilience. Every other week, participants come together to discuss character development, major themes, highs and lows, and personal reflections on the story. We look forward to future reads and will be starting a new novel in January of 2026.
WSU Art Hub:
Our ArtsHub program, run in partnership with the WSU Trauma Center, guided participants through an art therapy project led by Wayne State University students. These activities provided a reflective and creative outlet for our adult participants. The program concluded with a collaborative community art project; a handmade tablecloth filled with messages of encouragement and gratitude, serving as a visual reminder of resilience and connection within our community.
