Share the Warmth Winter Clothing Drive

Morningside Community Organization (MCO) has partnered with local businesses to collect new or clean, gently used winter clothing for Brilliant Detroit families. The annual Share the Warmth Winter Clothing Drive kicks off in December to serve children that attend the Brilliant Detroit Morningside Hub.

In its third year, Share the Warmth was born from a concern of its organizer Twiana Odom. As a long-time community advocate, Twiana noticed that children in the neighborhood were without proper clothing in the deep winter months. She believed that the community could come together to meet the needs of the 10-20 families that patronize the Brillant Detroit Hub with warm clothing items collected at local business. This year, Morningside Cafe will serve as a collection location.

Twiana says, “I encourage people to do what they can, share what you have.” She wanted to remind people that they may have forgotten or unused items in their closets, that they could consider donating.

Donations will be collected December through the end of January. If you have questions, please contact the organizer and MCO First Vice President, Twiana Odom directly at (313) 808-3493.
